Facilities
LRBT offers a 3-tiered service delivery structure:
- 40 Primary-Eye-Care (PECs)/ Outreach-Clinics (OCs)
- These eye care centres treat simple ailments, conduct refraction and serve as referral points for patients who require more complex medical treatment or surgery to the closest LRBT hospital in the region.
- 14 Secondary Eye-Care-Hospitals
- These have state of the art equipment and treat most eye diseases
such as refractive errors, cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye disorders,
uvietis, squint, etc. These hospitals are strategically located
in rural areas or small towns where the poverty is the greatest
and eye care facilities are lacking. Patients requiring more complex
treatment especially related to retina or cornea are referred
to Tertiary-Hospitals.
- 2 Tertiary-Eye-Hospitals
- Korangi hospital in Karachi, and Lahore hospital
are Tertiary-Level Facilities with latest equipment and a wide
range of experience to treat the entire gamut of eye ailments.
These are Centres of Excellence. Both hospitals are recognized
by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and the
Pakistan Medical & Dental Council for post graduate medical studies.
